In First Horizon, TOVA approaches dawn as an internal threshold rather than a moment in the landscape. A saturated red field is interrupted by a sharp passage of white, while flashes of yellow gather along its edge like light beginning to enter the image.

The composition is built through tension between broad areas of colour and exposed movement of the brush. The horizon appears unstable, shifting between division and connection. Dawn becomes a personal point of transition, formed through the act of painting rather than observed from outside.
