Despite its title, Common Fox moves away from an ordinary representation of the animal. The tightly cropped composition fragments the fox’s body, bringing the viewer unusually close and shifting attention towards texture and movement.

Polina Lis treats the recognisable figure as a starting point for transformation. As the body approaches abstraction, the fox becomes less an observed animal than a psychological image, occupying a space between the familiar and the imagined.
